Are You Guilty Of Trying To Fit In?

I’m guilty of it.
I once did it.
I spent years of my life trying to fit in.
I felt like I wasn’t enough and thought others were better than me. Constant comparison led me to believe that I wasn’t as good as others. I did things that I didn’t want to do. I thought that other’s knew me better than myself. I ignored my own desires and thought that fitting in was more important than living my own life.
Until one day.
And I’m hoping that today will be your day.
You may be guilty right now of trying to be like others that surround you. You may feel ‘not enough’ or ‘not good enough’.
But I’m here to tell you that comparison will rob you of joy. It will rob you of happiness. It will rob you of fulfilment.
What YOU MAY NOT REALISE is that it is IMPOSSIBLE to be like other people. Within our brains, we have beautifully unique neural pathways which have been formed by our personal experiences. No-one has experienced the same life, or the same experiences as you. You cannot ever be like anyone else.
You may be stronger as a result of adversity.
You may have knowledge that other’s do not.
You have skills and talents that no-one else can offer.
You are enough, just as you are.
Your moment of change will come when you realise that you weren’t born to fit in, but to stand out.
Your moment of realisation may be tomorrow. It may be next week. Or next year.
But I’m hoping your moment is NOW.
